RENU Loan FAQ

What is the RENU Loan?

A Colorado program that offers fixed-rate loans for energy upgrades through Elevations Credit Union and Westerra Credit Union. The Collective Clean Energy Fund runs the program with Colorado Energy Office support. A participating contractor like us helps you apply.

Is there a lien on my home?

No. RENU lenders file a UCC-1 on the installed equipment only.

What equipment qualifies?

High-efficiency heat pumps, central AC, 95%+ AFUE furnaces, heat pump and high-efficiency water heaters, Level 2 EV chargers, insulation, and windows meet RENU standards when they hit program efficiency levels. Panel upgrades qualify when they're needed for a qualifying upgrade. Repairs and tune-ups don't qualify.

Can I still get rebates?

Yes. With RENU, you can put a rebate or tax credit toward your loan and have your payment recalculated.

How long does approval take?

RENU decisions usually take 3-5 business days.

My system just failed. Can I still use RENU?

Call us first. Because RENU approval takes a few days, we'll walk you through your options, including financing that can give you a decision in minutes.

Can I pay it off early?

Yes. RENU has no prepayment penalty.

What happens if I sell my home?

A RENU loan is a loan to you, not to the house.

Do I need to be a credit union member?

For RENU, you'll open a membership with Elevations or Westerra when you apply ($5 at Elevations).

I'm not an Xcel customer.

RENU works with any utility.

Do I have to own the home?

Yes. RENU is for owners, and also covers rentals and second homes you own.

CUSTOMER TESTIMONIALS

I had such a great experience with Veteran. My AC stopped working during a heat wave, and they sent a technician out the same day. He was on time, friendly, and explained everything in plain language so I actually understood what needed to be fixed.

Drew T.

We had two sinks backing up in our home that were very challenging to clear but Jim Knight was persistent and kept working on it until it was completely fixed. Though he had other calls to make that day, he made sure we were comfortable with the outcome before leaving.

Jane F.

What stood out most was their integrity—no upselling, just honest advice and top-tier workmanship. As a veteran-owned business, they bring a strong sense of pride and reliability to their work, and it shows.

Emily R.

Mike’s rethinking how home service should work. No trip or dispatch fees, you only pay when the job begins. Lifetime warranty on all parts and labor. And if you're not satisfied, you get your money back. It's a refreshingly honest approach that puts the customer first.
